Jerusalem

... and I wonder how long I will be able to persevere and feed this blog, never knowing what I will say next ??  Feeling sad and down right now I seem to know what I will let flow from my fingers as  when I woke up just now a voice on the tv kicked in and entered my sleepy head. I was napping and it mentioned a city where I used to live: Jerusalem, how bizarre, what's the connection?

... Jerusalem was the end of my  Pumps, Pearls and Pocketbook lifestyle  ...  I sort of woke up to reality?  All sorts of different issues are still finding their way into the Jerusalem press office, the Beit Agron, where they culminate and hold the world at bay: I know, I used to go there daily to pick up the press releases.

... and, hey, scrolling for a picture, looking for the château and here I sit one summer amidst my brood  with on each side two  unhappy hooligans as I stare at the screen of my computer at the photo that popped up: I had just dragged the two hooligans  in & out of a much needed shower  ... they're the rowdy part of the clan, still amongst the living and doing what the living do ...  except for my eldest standing tall in the back, holding on to the girls. He died far away from us all fifteen years ago, our very own 9/11 except it was June.

I moved  back to Bordeaux two years ago, had a look at the château we used to live in during a press stint here; this changed château to-day, so wonderfully informal when we lived there: sheep and cows in its pastures, an alcoholic chatelain in saggy britches who pinched our best wines and tried to pinch the girls ... now a stately edifice it is with a mickey mouse vinyard in the front, a chic country manor for conferences, how sad, it used to ring with children's laughter.

I'm not alone -  I know we all have experienced this at one time or another, a personal curtain crashing down. Being unfriended on Facebook by a woman I know in real life, was another one. Friends are a rare commodity I, personally, cannot afford to and will never eliminate with the click of a browser. The connection is Jerusalem, still the world's Tower of Babel with its different stakes, granted, but misunderstandings exist on all levels, having different cultural backgrounds adds to the pandemonium, but hearts beat the same way wherever we go.

Writing this brought solace
Demain, demain il fera jour!
